Power & Light
The retreat’s power system is designed to be self-sufficient and sustainable. A 1500W solar system (48V, 16A) is installed to provide limited 120VAC and DC power for essential appliances like refrigeration units, water pumps, lighting, and communication devices. This setup ensures that critical systems remain operational even during prolonged periods without sunlight. However, due to the limited capacity of the solar system, power usage must be strictly controlled. Residents are advised to use energy-efficient appliances and to schedule high-energy consumption activities during the day when solar power generation is at its peak. Generators are used only during rainstorms or other periods of low sunlight to ensure continuous power supply. Each resident is responsible for monitoring their energy usage and adhering to the community’s power conservation guidelines.
Water
Access to clean water is crucial for survival. The retreat features a well equipped with manual and pump access, ensuring a reliable water source. Additionally, 275 gallons of stored hot and cold water are available for immediate use. To maximize water efficiency, a grey water recycling system is in place, which collects and treats water from sinks and showers for use in toilets. This system significantly reduces the retreat’s water consumption and helps preserve the well’s water supply. Filtration systems are installed to ensure that all water used for drinking and cooking is safe and free from contaminants. Residents are encouraged to bring their own water purification systems as a backup measure.
Fire Safety
Fire safety is a top priority at the retreat. Each resident is required to have an ABC fire extinguisher accessible at all times. Open flames are permitted only under strict supervision to prevent accidental fires. Fire prevention measures include regular inspections of all flammable materials and the establishment of a fire safety protocol that all residents must follow. Fire drills are conducted monthly to ensure that everyone knows how to respond in case of an emergency. Residents are also trained in basic fire suppression techniques to enhance their ability to handle small fires before they escalate. The community maintains a fire safety checklist that includes checking smoke detectors, ensuring fire extinguishers are fully charged, and maintaining clear access to all fire safety equipment.
Security
The security of the retreat is managed through a series of rotating watch shifts. Each resident is assigned a 2-hour shift every day to ensure constant surveillance of the perimeter. Firearms training is mandatory for all members, and regular drills are conducted to maintain proficiency. Patrols are organized to cover the retreat’s perimeter and internal areas, with a fast response unit on standby to address any security breaches. The community also maintains a secure perimeter fence and employs motion sensors and cameras to enhance surveillance. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately to the security team. The security protocol includes a detailed response plan for various scenarios, such as intruders, natural disasters, and medical emergencies. All members are briefed on the security procedures and are expected to adhere to them at all times.
Medical Care
The retreat is equipped with a basic hospital facility that includes trauma kits, sutures, and medical supplies. All residents are required to bring their personal medications and first aid supplies to ensure they have immediate access to necessary treatments. Medical training is provided to all members, covering basic first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures. The community maintains a medical log to track any injuries or illnesses and to ensure that all necessary treatments are administered promptly. Residents are encouraged to participate in regular medical drills to enhance their preparedness for medical emergencies. The medical care protocol includes a detailed plan for handling various medical scenarios, such as trauma injuries, chronic conditions, and mental health issues. All members are briefed on the medical procedures and are expected to follow them to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
Community Responsibilities
Daily tasks at the retreat include food preservation, battery maintenance, sanitation, security patrols, and resource management. Each resident is assigned specific duties to ensure that all essential tasks are completed efficiently. Food preservation involves canning and dehydrating food to extend its shelf life. Battery maintenance includes checking and charging all rechargeable batteries to ensure they are ready for use. Sanitation involves maintaining clean living quarters and common areas to prevent the spread of disease. Security patrols are conducted to ensure the safety of the community. Resource management involves monitoring the stock levels of essential supplies and coordinating replenishments as needed. All members are expected to contribute to these tasks to ensure the survival of the community. The community responsibilities protocol includes a detailed list of tasks and a schedule for their completion. All members are briefed on their responsibilities and are expected to adhere to the schedule to ensure the smooth operation of the retreat.
Essential Supplies
Each resident is required to bring a minimum of 3-6 months of food, water storage, shelter, firearms, 72-hour kits, and rechargeable batteries. Additional resources like deep-cycle batteries, ammunition, and livestock are encouraged if available. The retreat maintains a central storage area for communal supplies, which includes a stockpile of non-perishable food, water filters, medical supplies, and other essential items. Residents are encouraged to contribute to the communal supplies to ensure that the community has a reliable source of essential supplies. The essential supplies protocol includes a detailed list of required items and a schedule for replenishing them. All members are briefed on the protocol and are expected to adhere to it to ensure the survival of the community.
